DUT’s Confucius Institute Successfully Organizing the Second Chinese Film Festival in Durban-2015

In association with Suncoast Casino Cinema, the Second Chinese Film Festival in Durban-2015, organized by DUT CI, had welcomed a big success with more than 300 guest audiences attending the festival on 15th April. The representatives from DUT leadership, guests from SAPS, SACP, Durban communities and students from DUT attended to enjoy Chinese hot broadcast, the Taking of Tiger Mountain.

Professor Graham Stewart, co-dean of DUT CI, said that film was an excellent way for culture communication, which indicates both differences and similarities and eventually builds a bridge in different cultures. And guests from Chinese communities and South African communities tonight would build a culture bridge in the festival.

Since the year of 2015 is The Year of China in South Africa, Dr Eddie Chaobo Fu, co-dean of DUT CI, welcomed guests from all walks of life to join in the following serial functions organized by DUT CI. The cooperation and exchanges in all fields between China and South Africa would be prosperous and Chinese culture would be further showcased and introduced to South African communities in 2015.

The Film Festival in Durban is held by DUT CI with strong support from Suncoast Casino Cinema annually. Through showing Chinese films to South African communities, the festival acts as a culture window to showcase Chinese culture and help the locals know more about China.
